"I wonder how long it would take for everyone to notice if I just stopped talking."
Book rec time. Anything by Ms. Laurie Halse Anderson can move you to the point of tears. Wintergirls, Catalyst, Twisted, Speak.
Speak was the first one I read. It’s probably the most popular of her books. Lifetime made it into a movie casting pre-Twilight Kristen Stewart as the lead. I must say, I liked the movie. Of course, the book was so much better obviously. I just love it. If you love angst, you’ll love any of her books. There’s so much angst everywhere. Her words, they move me. They feed me. When I’m not expressive enough, not outgoing enough, not similar-minded enough to adhere to the understanding of the lewd decadence of my generation, basically, just not good enough.
Wintergirls. So many emotions in that book. I cannot fathom how I’m supposed to convey the feelings books like these give me.
"Look in the mirror and find a ghost. Hear every heartbeat scream that everysinglething is wrong with you. ‘Why’ is the wrong question. Ask ‘Why not?’”
I think the thing I love most about her books are how lyrical she is. In my honest opinion, what made Wintergirls were the words she used. Not the plot or the characters. I feel like it could’ve been better, plot-wise. It wasn’t long enough. But her quotes are just provoking.
I’m already getting frustrated trying to explain.
Just go. Read it. K thnx bai.
